Abstract
Penelitian ini bertopik analisis peran strategis lembaga pendidikan Kristen dalam menanamkan nilai toleransi beragama di SMP Kristen Gandangbatu. Bertitiktolak dari permasalahan meningkatnya kasus intoleransi dan konflik antar agama yang melahirkan rumusan pertanyaan ini. Permasalahan ini dikaji melalui teori peran institusi dan pendidikan multikultural dengan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif melalui observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai toleransi di SMP Kristen Gandangbatu menjadi dasar penting dalam melaksanakan kegiatan di Sekolah dibuktikan dengan praktek nyata seperti mengikutkan siswa beragama Islam dalam melaksanakan ibadah termasuk perayaan hari besar, guru mengikutsertakan siswa dalam mengikuti kegiatan ekstrakulikuler dan non-kurikuler tanpa memandang latar belakang agama. Dalam pembelajaran guru memberikan kebijakan khusus bagi yang beragama Islam. Upaya komprehensif ini, yang juga mengadopsi prinsip pendidikan multikultural, menjadikan SMP Kristen Gandangbatu sebagai model praktik terbaik dalam mengelola dan menanamkan nilai toleransi di tengah keberagaman. ABSTRACT This research analyzes the strategic role of a Christian educational institution in fostering religious tolerance at Gandangbatu Christian Junior High School. Prompted by rising religious intolerance and conflict, the study employs institutional role theory and multicultural education principles, utilizing descriptive qualitative methods (observation, interviews, and documentation). The findings show that tolerance is a vital school foundation, demonstrated by concrete practices such as including Muslim students in religious services and major holidays, and involving all students in extracurricular activities regardless of their faith. Furthermore, teachers implement special learning policies for Muslim students. This comprehensive effort, rooted in multicultural education, establishes Gandangbatu Christian Junior High School as a best-practice model for cultivating tolerance amidst diversity.
