Abstract

Efektivitas konseling therapy realitas terhadap ibu yang menghadapi anak dalam mental illness dilatarbelakangi oleh sebuah kasus seorang ibu yang harus tinggal berdampingan dengan kedua anaknya dalam keterbelakangan mental. Hal ini membuat sebuah rasa berkecamuk dalam diri sang ibu hingga membuat ketidaknyaman dalam diri sang ibu. Ada rasa benci kepada kedua anak, tetangga, sulit untuk bersosiaisasi dengan lingkungan dan bahkan sulitnya berkonsentrasi hal inilah yang dialami oleh sang ibu. Menyikapi hal ini penulis menggunakan konseling terapis realitas. Konseling Therapy Realitas ialah konseling yang berfokus pada masa sekarang. Therapy ini lebih kepada pengubahan sikap dan perilaku pada diri seseorang dan mampu untuk mempertanggungjawabkan sebuah keputusan yang telah diambil. Ketika konseling realitas ini diterapkan pada seseorang hal yang akan terjadi adalah tercapainya sebuah tujuan dalam memulihkan keadaan pada diri seseorang. Dalam mengumpulkan data pada penulisan ini, penulis menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan mengumpulkan data, analisis data dan lebih kepada mendapatkan pencerahan dan pemahaman. Dalam hal ini pula disertai dengan menggunakan penelitian tindakan bimbingan konseling (PTBK). Hal ini guna untuk menerapkan terapi realitas dalam konseling. Hasil dari menggunakan terapi konseling realitas ini efektik untuk melakukan pendampingan dan penerapan kepada seorang ibu yang harus tinggal bersama- sama dengan anak dalam gangguan mental. Kata Kunci: Ibu, Therapy, Realitas, Konseling, Anak, Gangguan mental The effectiveness of reality therapy counseling for rnother who face children with mental illness is motivated by a case of a rnother who had live side by side with her two children with mental retardation. This makes a feeling of raging inside the rnother to make discomfort in the rnother. There is hatred for two the children, neighbors, difftculty socializing with the environment and even difftculty concentrating, this is what the rnother experienced. In response to this, the author uses reality therapist counseling. Reality therapy counseling is counseling that focuces on the present. This therapy is more about changing attitudes and behavior in a person and being able to take responbility for a decision that has been taken. When this reality counseling is applied to someone, what will happen is the achievement of a goal in restoring the situation to a person.In collecting data at this writing, the author uses qualitative research methods by collecting data, analyzing data more to again enlightenment and understanding. In this case\it is also accompanied by using counseling guidance action. This is in order to apply reality therapy in counseling. The result of using reality counseling therapy are ejfectivefor providing assistance and application to a rnother who has to live with a child with mental disorders.
