Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan mendeskripsikan strategi guru Pendidikan Agama Kristen (PAK) dalam mengatasi berbagai dampak media sosial terhadap pembentukan karakter siswa di SMK Kristen Tagari Rantepao. Penggunaan media sosial yang semakin intens di kalangan remaja menyebabkan munculnya sejumlah perubahan perilaku, seperti menurunnya kesopanan, penggunaan bahasa yang tidak santun, kurangnya empati, serta melemahnya kemampuan pengendalian diri. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode fenomenologi melalui observasi langsung, wawancara mendalam, serta studi dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media sosial memberi manfaat tertentu seperti peningkatan kreativitas dan akses informasi, namun juga membawa dampak negatif berupa kecanduan, distraksi belajar, dan penurunan kualitas karakter. Untuk mengatasi hal tersebut, guru PAK menerapkan beberapa strategi, antara lain penguatan literasi digital berbasis nilai Kristiani, integrasi nilai-nilai Alkitab dalam pembelajaran, pembinaan karakter secara personal, pengawasan perilaku siswa, serta kerja sama yang intens dengan pihak sekolah dan orang tua. Penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya peran guru PAK sebagai pendidik karakter yang mampu membimbing siswa dalam menggunakan media sosial secara bijak di era digital. ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze and describe the strategies used by Christian Religious Education (PAK) teachers in addressing the impacts of social media on students’ character formation at SMK Kristen Tagari Rantepao. The increasing intensity of social media use among adolescents has resulted in various behavioral changes, including reduced politeness, inappropriate language, diminished empathy, and weakened self-control. This research employs a qualitative phenomenological approach through direct observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that social media provides certain benefits, such as enhancing creativity and access to information, but also generates negative effects including addiction, learning distraction, and a decline in character quality. To mitigate these issues, PAK teachers implement several strategies, including Christian value–based digital literacy, integration of biblical teachings in learning, personalized character mentoring, behavioral monitoring, and strong collaboration with schools and parents. This study highlights the crucial role of PAK teachers as character educators who guide students to use social media wisely in the digital era.
