Abstract

ABSTRACT The Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) phenomenon is increasingly prevalent among teenagers, especially in the digital era that is full of social and media pressures. This study aims to explore how the concept of self-control and the dichotomy of control adapted from Stoic philosophy can be a solution in dealing with FOMO among teenagers of the Toraja Church of the Agape Topangana Congregation. The method used is a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews and direct observation. The results of the study show that self-control helps teenagers recognize and control emotional impulses triggered by social media. Meanwhile, understanding the dichotomy of control helps them distinguish between things they can and cannot change, so that they are able to free themselves from unhealthy social pressures. This study recommends the integration of Stoic values and Christian faith principles in the development of church teenagers as a spiritual and practical strategy to deal with FOMO. Keywords: FOMO, Self-control, Stoicism, dichotomy of control, Christian youth, Toraja Church.
