Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan siswa dalam memahami materi bacaan pada pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Kristen (PAK). Salah satu penyebabnya adalah penerapan model pembelajaran yang cenderung konvensional, yaitu hanya menggunakan metode ceramah dan tanya jawab, sehingga pembelajaran menjadi kurang bervariasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji efektivitas model pembelajaran Autonomous Learner dalam meningkatkan kemampuan siswa memahami materi bacaan berdasarkan capaian pembelajaran kelas VII di UPT SMPN 3 Gandangbatu Sillanan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model Autonomous Learner relevan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam memahami materi bacaan berdasarkan capaian pembelajaran PAK kelas VII di UPT SMPN 3 Gandangbatu Sillanan. Aspek-aspek yang mengalami peningkatan setelah penerapan model Autonomous Learner pada siklus I meliputi: mengidentifikasi ide utama dengan persentase 60%, memahami hubungan antar kalimat 68%, mengevaluasi informasi 59%, dan menarik kesimpulan 71%. Pada siklus II, mengidentifikasi ide utama meningkat menjadi 68%, memahami hubungan antar kalimat 77%, mengevaluasi informasi 75%, dan menarik kesimpulan tetap 71%. Kata kunci : Autonomous Learner Model, Kemampuan, Pemahaman. ABSTRACT This study was motivated by the low ability of students to comprehend reading materials in Christian Education (PAK) lessons. One of the causes is the application of conventional teaching models, which primarily rely on lecture and question-and-answer methods, making the learning process less varied. This research aims to examine the effectiveness of the Autonomous Learner Model in improving students' ability to comprehend reading materials based on the learning outcomes of Grade VII students at UPT SMPN 3 Gandangbatu Sillanan. The research method used was classroom action research (CAR) conducted in two cycles. The findings indicate that the Autonomous Learner Model is relevant for enhancing students' ability to comprehend reading materials based on the learning outcomes of Christian Education for Grade VII at UPT SMPN 3 Gandangbatu Sillanan. Aspects that improved after implementing the Autonomous Learner Model in Cycle I included: identifying main ideas with a percentage of 60%, understanding relationships between sentences 68%, evaluating information 59%, and drawing conclusions 71%. In Cycle II, identifying main ideas increased to 68%, understanding relationships between sentences rose to 77%, evaluating information improved to 75%, and drawing conclusions remained at 71%.
