Abstract
Siswa kelas VIII SMPN 4 Datubaringan memiliki nilai karakter sopan santun yang kurang baik, berkata kasar, kurang menghormati orang yang lebih tua dan tidak menyapa. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis peran guru Pendidikan Agama Kristen dalam Pembentukan Karakter Sopan Santun Siswa Kelas VIII SMPN 4 Datubaringan. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan metode penelitian deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi dan wawancara. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang diperoleh bahwa guru Pendidikan Agama Kristen berperan sebagai pendidik, pengajar, pembimbing, dan pelatih dalam membentuk karakter sopan santun siswa seperti menghormati orang yang lebih tua, tidak berkata kasar, menghargai pendapat orang lain, serta membiasakan menyapa dengan sopan. Pembentukan karakter sopan santun pada siswa juga dilakukan melalui keteladanan, pembiasaan, dan pengajaran. Namun, ditemukan bahwa karakter sopan santun siswa di luar sekolah masih kurang terlihat dibandingkan ketika di lingkungan sekolah, karena pengaruh lingkungan dan kurangnya pengawasan. Kata Kunci: Peran, Guru PAK, Sopan Santun ABSTRACT Eighth grade students of SMPN 4 Datubaringan have poor character values of politeness, using rude language, disrespecting elders, and not greeting. The purpose of this study is to analyze the role of Christian Religious Education teachers in the Formation of the Character of Politeness of Eighth Grade Students of SMPN 4 Datubaringan. The type of research used is qualitative research with descriptive research methods. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation and interviews. Based on the results of the study, it was obtained that Christian Religious Education teachers play a role as educators, teachers, guides, and trainers in forming students' polite character such as respecting elders, not using rude language, respecting the opinions of others, and getting used to greeting politely. The formation of polite character in students is also done through role models, habits, and teaching. However, it was found that students' polite character outside of school is still less visible than when in the school environment, due to environmental influences and lack of supervision.
