Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas peran guru Pendidikan Agama Kristen dalam mengimplementasikan pendidikan karakter sebagai solusi terhadap degradasi moral siswa di UPT SMP Negeri 2 Rembon. Latar belakang penelitian ini didasarkan pada meningkatnya perilaku menyimpang seperti membolos, menyontek, membully, dan menurunnya sikap sopan santun siswa. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis peran guru dalam membentuk karakter siswa melalui pendekatan edukatif, bimbingan, pelatihan, dan motivasi berdasarkan nilai-nilai Kristiani. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru Pendidikan Agama Kristen berperan aktif dalam membimbing siswa untuk menumbuhkan nilai-nilai moral seperti kejujuran, tanggung jawab, dan kepedulian sosial. Pendidikan karakter terbukti efektif mengurangi perilaku menyimpang dan membentuk siswa menjadi pribadi yang berintegritas dan bertanggung jawab. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi dalam penguatan pendidikan karakter di sekolah menengah. Kata Kunci: Pendidikan Karakter, Guru PAK, Moral, Siswa, Degradasi ABSTRACT This study discusses the role of Christian Religious Education (CRE) teachers in implementing character education as a solution to students' moral degradation at UPT SMP Negeri 2 Rembon. The research is based on the growing prevalence of deviant behaviors such as truancy, cheating, bullying, and declining student etiquette. The objective is to analyze how CRE teachers shape student character through educational guidance, training, and motivation rooted in Christian values. A descriptive qualitative method was used with techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that CRE teachers actively guide students in fostering moral values such as honesty, responsibility, and social care. Character education is proven effective in reducing deviant behavior and shaping students into individuals with integrity and accountability. This research contributes to strengthening character education programs in junior high schools. Keywords: Character Education, CRE Teacher, Morality, Students, Degradation.
