Abstract
ABSTRACT Selpi Payuk (2020154103). 2019. Arranging thesis with the title "Analysis of the Effectiveness of the Implementation of Church Discipline for Church Officers in the Toraja Church Hermon Patane Klimb Malimbong Congregation". Under the guidance of Ps. Ivan Sampe Buntu, M.Hum and Alm. Dr. Sadrak Kurang. Keywords : the duties of church officials (pastors, elders and deacons) in the application of church discipline. The author discusses this topic because the application of church discipline to church officials in the Hermon Patane congregation apparently did not take place optimally. That is why the author wants to know and see what the church council's understanding of church discipline is and how the process of applying church discipline is so that the writer is interested in wanting to examine the problem in this paper. The method that the author uses to complete data in the field is a qualitative research method of observation, interviews and literature\study. The author directly observes, also meets and chatters with a severe resource person to obtain the actual data by referring to the theory of entry into the place of research. After obtaining the results of research in the field it tums out that the church council in the congregation understands church discipline as a form of punishment or sanctions for someone who has fallen into sin. The church council also seems to lack understanding of its duties and responsibilities so that the application of church discipline does not run optimally. This is caused due to negligence in lifting the duties and responsibilities as a church official. The author hopes that through this paper the reader can get a picture of the effectiveness of the application of church discipline for people who fail into sin in the congregation so that this can be condemned in Service.
