Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji penggunaan film Jumbo sebagai media cinematherapy terhadap Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) yang dialami pemuda PPGT Jemaat Ba'lele, Toraja Utara, serta merumuskan pendampingan pastoral konseling Kristen yang spesifik dan kontekstual. Persoalan utamanya adalah minimnya pendampingan pastoral yang menyentuh dimensi psikologis trauma masa kecil, di mana pendekatan yang berjalan masih bertumpu pada doa dan perkunjungan tanpa fondasi teologis yang menuntun pemulihan. Penelitian bertujuan menganalisis respons pemuda terhadap film Jumbo, mengklasifikasikan bentuk ACEs, dan merumuskan pendampingan pastoral berbasis Alkitab yang terintegrasi dengan terapi naratif. Teori dasar mencakup kerangka ACEs Felitti dan Anda, cinematherapy Wolz, pastoral konseling Clinebell, terapi naratif White dan Epston, serta dasar Alkitabiah dalam Mazmur 23, Yehezkiel 34:16, Lukas 4:18-19, dan Mazmur 34:19. Metode kualitatif lapangan melibatkan delapan informan pemuda, dua orang tua, dan satu pendeta jemaat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ketiga mekanisme cinematherapy, yaitu identifikasi, katarsis, dan pemahaman baru, hadir nyata namun bertahap akibat budaya menjaga nama baik keluarga, dan menyingkap kerinduan teologis akan sosok gembala. Kekerasan psikologis dan penelantaran emosional menjadi bentuk ACEs paling dominan. Pendampingan pastoral dirumuskan dalam lima tahapan terapi naratif yang ditautkan pada dasar Alkitabiah dan telah diujicobakan terbatas sebagai indikasi awal keefektifannya. ABSTRACT This study examines film Jumbo as a cinematherapy medium for addressing Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) among youth of PPGT Congregation Ba'lele, North Toraja, and formulates a specific, contextual Christian pastoral counseling approach. The core problem is the absence of pastoral care addressing childhood trauma's psychological dimensions, where existing practice remains limited to prayer and home visitation without a theological framework guiding recovery. The study analyzes youth responses to the film, classifies ACE forms, and formulates biblically grounded pastoral care integrated with narrative therapy. Theoretical foundations include Felitti and Anda's ACEs framework, Wolz's cinematherapy, Clinebell's pastoral counseling, White and Epston's narrative therapy, and biblical foundations in Psalm 23, Ezekiel 34:16, Luke 4:18-19, and Psalm 34:19. Qualitative field research involved eight youth informants, two parents, and one pastor. Findings show all three cinematherapy mechanisms, namely identification, catharsis, and insight, occurred genuinely yet gradually due to local family-honor values, and revealed a theological longing for a sustaining shepherd figure. Psychological abuse and emotional neglect emerged as the most dominant ACE categories. A five-stage narrative therapy-based pastoral care model was formulated, anchored to biblical foundations, and piloted on a limited basis as an initial indication of its effectiveness.
