Abstract

Generasi muda di Tana Toraja khususnya siswa SMAN 4 mengalami pergeseran karakter yang ditandai dengan kurangnya penghargaan terhadap sesama, sikap tidak sopan kepada orang tua, penggunaan kata-kata kasar, dan mudah terlibat dalam perselisihan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis implementasi Pendidikan Agama Kristen berbasis Tongkonan Layuk dalam membangun karakter siswa di SMAN 4 Tana Toraja. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain etnografi melalui wawancara mendalam dengan tokoh adat, guru PAK, dan siswa, serta observasi dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pemahaman tentang nilai-nilai Tongkonan Layuk di kalangan tokoh adat, guru, dan siswa cukup memadai. Nilai-nilai yang diintegrasikan meliputi saling menghormati, kebersamaan, tanggung jawab, dan gotong royong. Integrasi dilakukan dengan menggabungkan materi PAK dengan nilai-nilai budaya lokal melalui pembelajaran di kelas dan kunjungan ke Tongkonan. Implementasi menunjukkan dampak terhadap perubahan perilaku siswa yang lebih sopan, bertanggung jawab, dan memiliki kebersamaan. Kendala yang dihadapi adalah kurangnya pemahaman sebagian guru tentang nilai-nilai Tongkonan Layuk, sehingga diperlukan pelatihan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru. ABSTRACT The younger generation in Tana Toraja, especially students at SMAN 4, are experiencing a shift in character marked by a lack of respect for others, disrespectful attitudes towards parents, use of foul language, and a tendency to get involved in disputes. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Tongkonan Layuk-based Christian Religious Education in building the character of students at SMAN 4 Tana Toraja. The research method used a qualitative approach with an ethnographic design through in-depth interviews with traditional leaders, PAK teachers, and students, as well as observation and documentation. The results of the study show that the understanding of Tongkonan Layuk values among traditional leaders, teachers, and students is quite adequate. The integrated values include mutual respect, togetherness, responsibility, and mutual cooperation. Integration is carried out by combining Christian Religious Education material with local cultural values through classroom learning and visits to Tongkonan. The implementation showed an impact on changes in student behavior, making them more polite, responsible, and cooperative. The obstacle faced was the lack of understanding of Tongkonan Layuk values among some teachers, so training was needed to improve teacher competence.
