Abstract

Persoalan deforestasi yang terus meningkat dari tahun ke tahun menjadi sebuah hal yang begitu membutuhkan perhatian. Faktor utama dari masalah ini adalah paradigma antroposentris manusia yang terus memposisikan dirinya sebagai pusat, sehingga Gereja sebagai persekutuan orang percaya dalam hal ini perlu mengambil peran dalam upaya untuk mengatasi persoalan lingkungan yang terjadi saat ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif lapangan dengan metode deskriktif dan teknik pengumpulan data yang meliputi observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Salah satu upaya yang di tawarkan dalam penelitian ini, adalah merubah paradigma antroposentris manusia melalui Pendidikan Ekoteologi melalui pengajaran yang dikontekstualkan dengan kearifan lokal masyarakat Mehalaan, yakni kepercayaan terhadap Issi Kaliane dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana relevansinya bagi Pendidikan Ekoteologi di Gereja Toraja Mamasa Jemaat Imanuel Mehalaan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kepercayaan masyarakat Mehalaan terhadap Issi Kaliane memiliki relevansi yang sangat penting bagi pendidikan ekoteologi di Gereja Toraja Mamasa Jemaat Imanuel. Gereja dipanggil untuk menjembatani iman Kristen dengan kearifan lokal, sehingga jemaat dapat menghidupi tradisi penghormatan terhadap hutan sebagai bagian dari iman yang mengakui kehadiran Allah dalam ciptaan. Kata Kunci : Pendidikan Ekoteologi, Issi Kaliane, Peran Gereja, Teologi Kontekstual. ABSTRACT The issue of deforestation, which continues to increase from year to year, is something that needs attention. The main factor behind this problem is the anthropocentric paradigm that continues to position humans as the center of everything. Therefore, the Church, as a community of believers, needs to take a role in efforts to overcome the environmental problems that are occurring today. This study uses a qualitative field research method with a descriptive approach and data collection techniques that include observation, interviews, and documentation. One of the efforts offered in this study is to change the anthropocentric paradigm through eco-theology education with teaching that is contextualized with the local wisdom of the Mehalaan community, namely their belief in Issi Kaliane, with the aim of determining its relevance to eco-theology education in the Toraja Mamasa Church of Immanuel Mehalaan. The results of this study show that the Mehalaan community's belief in Issi Kaliane is very relevant to eco-theology education at the Toraja Mamasa Imanuel Mehalaan Church.
