Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to describe and analyze the life experiences of women who experience fatherlessness reviewed from Abraham Harold Maslow's theory of needs in North Makale District. The phenomenon of fatherlessness, which is the physical and emotional absence of the father figure, is believed to have a significant impact on the development of individuals, especially women. The method used is qualitative research with a narrative study approach. Using Harold Maslow's Abraham theory of needs. This theory is divided into five stages of human needs, namely physiological needs, security needs, social needs, reward needs, and self-actualization needs. From the results of the study, in the aspect of the need for a sense of security, the subjects experienced psychological instability due to a tense relationship with their father and also influenced the emergence of deviant behavior. In terms of social needs, the subject shows difficulties in forming emotional attachment, due to the absence of the role of the father, despite being compensated from the social environment such as friends and partners. The need for reward showed that subjects experienced a decrease in self-confidence and feelings of worthlessness due to past traumatic experiences and a lack of support from the father figure. However, at the stage of self-actualization, the subject begins to show progress through expressive and social activities, as well as reflection on the past as part of the recovery and growth process. For this reason, this study highlights the importance of the role of the family, especially the father figure, in meeting the basic and emotional needs of children for the psychological and social development of individuals. Keywords: Fatherless, women, narrative studies, needs theory.
