Abstract
Dalam menyajikan storytelling yang menarik bukanlah hal yang mudah untuk dilakukan, terlebih lagi anak hanya bisa berkonsentrasi dalam waktu yang singkat saja. Realita yang terjadi di Gereja Toraja Jemaat Kapolang Klasis Piongan Denpiku menunjukkan bahwa guru Sekolah Minggu belum mampu menyampaikan cerita yang menarik dengan baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan keterampilan storytelling guru Sekolah Minggu, dengan menggunakan metode wawancara dan observasi dalam pendekatan kualitatif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengembangan keterampilan storytelling guru Sekolah Minggu di Gereja Toraja Jemaat Kapolang belum maksimal dalam hal mempersiapkan diri dan bahan cerita. Peningkatan keterampilan storytelling guru Sekolah Minggu dengan mengadakan sesi persiapan bersama antar guru dalam menyiapkan bahan cerita baik dari penggunaan media, ekspresi wajah, bahasa dan intonasi yang tepat sehingga dalam penyajiannya cerita menjadi lebih menarik serta mampu meningkatkan imajinasi dan kreativitas anak. Kata Kunci: Keterampilan, Storytelling, guru Sekolah Minggu. Presenting engaging storytelling is not an easy task, especially since children can only concentrate for a short period of time. The reality observed in the Toraja Church of Kapolang Congregation, Piongan Denpiku Classis, shows that Sunday School teachers have not been able to effectively deliver compelling stories. This study aims to develop the storytelling skills of Sunday School teachers using interview and observation methods within a qualitative approach. The research findings indicate that the development of storytelling skills among Sunday School teachers at the Toraja Church of Kapolang Congregation remains suboptimal, particularly in terms of preparation and story material. Improving storytelling skills involves organizing joint preparation sessions among teachers to better develop story materials, including the use of media, facial expressions, appropriate language, and intonation. This approach makes the storytelling presentation more engaging, enhancing children’s imagination and creativity. Keywords: Skills, Storytelling, Sunday School Teachers.
