Abstract
Thesis title Analysis of the Use of Congregational Singing with Ethnic Nuances to Support Contextual Liturgy in Worship at Perindingan Congregation, To'banga Service Branch compiled by Asri Melinda, NIRM 2020196535, Faculty of Christian Theology and Sociology, Department of Christian Theology. Supervised by Hasrat Dewy Rante Allo, MMG. as supervisor one and Stephani Intan Marito Siallagan, M.Pd. as the second advisor. Congregational Singing with Ethnic Nuances is a Toraja-style song, the work of a group of composers from the Toraja Church. This song plays a role in supporting contextual liturgy (present liturgy) or according to the factual context in the Toraja Church. But in Perindingan Congregation, To'banga Assembly Branch, Congregational Songs with Ethnic nuances are rarely used in worship. This is due to the lack of congregational knowledge, interest in learning. The author uses qualitative research methods through observation, interviews, documentation with practice in the field. The results of the study prove that the congregation still uses NJNE very little in worship. The conclusion in this study is that NJNE is still underused because the human resources of church boards and congregations are still very limited, there is still very little interest in learning new songs, there is no church program on ecclesiastical singing training to facilitate the congregation's needs in worship. Keywords: Congregational Chanting Using Ethnic Nuances, Contextual Liturgy, Worship.
