Abstract
ABSTRAK MeLyani, 2023, menyusun tesis dengan judul “Kajian Kecerdasan Emosional Guru Dalam Mendisiplinkan Murid Di UPT SDN 8 Malimbong Balepe’ Kecamatan Malimbong Balepe’ Kabupaten Tana Toraja” yang diajukan kepada Institut Agama Kristen (IAKN) Toraja. Pemilihan topik ini dilatarbelakangi oleh tindakan-tindakan ketidakdisiplinan murid dalam proses pembelajaran yang dapat memicu emosi guru, sehingga sebagian guru masih memberlakukan hukuman secara fisik. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa sebagian guru belum mampu mengenali dan mengelola emosinya dalam menghadapi tindakan ketidakdisiplinan murid dalam proses pembelajaran. Berkaitan dengan itu, maka penulis ingin mengetahui kecerdasan emosional guru berdasarkan teori Daniel Goleman dalam mendisiplinkan murid dalam proses pembelajaran di UPT SDN 8 Malimbong Balepe’. Untuk mendapatkan data sehubungan dengan topik di atas, maka penulis melaksanakan penelitian dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Penelitian dilakukan dengan wawancara kepada beberapa guru dan beberapa murid di UPT SDN 8 Malimbong Balepe’. Dari hasil penelitian melalui studi pustaka, observasi dan wawancara kepada beberapa guru dan murid, setelah dianalisis, maka ditemukan gambaran mengenai kecerdasan emosional guru dalam mendisiplinkan murid di UPT SDN 8 Malimbong Balepe’ antara lain: guru tidak langsung berbicara dengan murid ketika sedang marah atau sedih, menenangkan diri terlebih dahulu dengan jalan-jalan atau tarik nafas, mengelola disiplin dengan aturan jelas di kelas, jika tidak mengerjakan tugas, maka ditegur, mencubit, memukul dengan sapu lidi, mengetok kepala murid, memotivasi murid untuk bersikap disiplin dan berpartisipasi aktif di kelas dengan mengenal karakter murid terlebih dahulu, jika ada murid nakal, maka murid dipisahkan dan ditempatkan di depan. Mendorong partisipasi aktif murid dengan memberikan reward seperti tepuk tangan saat murid menjawab soal dengan benar, memberikan dorongan dan perhatian khusus, penggunaan gambar yang sesuai dengan materi, memfasilitasi pengembangan empati dengan mengajak murid berpartisipasi dalam permainan kerja sama, mengatasi konflik antar murid dengan mengidentifikasi akar masalah dan mendekati murid yang terlibat, melakukan mediasi serta pendampingan untuk menyelesaikan masalah, melibatkan orang tua sejak awal untuk mendisiplinkan murid dan memastikan kontrol orang tua tetap ada. ABSTRACT MeLyani, 2023, is composing a thesis titled "A Study on the Emotional Intelligence of Teachers in Disciplining Students at UPT SDN 8 Malimbong Balepe’, Malimbong Balepe’ Sub-District, Tana Toraja Regency," submitted to the Toraja Christian Institute (IAKN). The selection of this topic is motivated by the undisciplined actions of students in the learning process that can trigger emotions in teachers, leading some teachers to still resort to physical punishment. This indicates that some teachers have not yet been able to recognize and manage their emotions when faced with student misbehavior during the learning process. In connection with this, the author aims to understand the emotional intelligence of teachers based on Daniel Goleman's theory in disciplining students during the learning process at UPT SDN 8 Malimbong Balepe’. To obtain data related to the above topic, the author conducted qualitative research. The research involved interviews with several teachers and students at UPT SDN 8 Malimbong Balepe’. Through literature review, observation, and interviews with several teachers and students, the analysis revealed a description of the emotional intelligence of teachers in disciplining students at UPT SDN 8 Malimbong Balepe’. This includes: teachers not directly speaking to students when angry or sad, calming themselves first by walking or taking deep breaths, managing discipline with clear rules in the classroom, reprimanding students for not completing assignments, using physical actions such as pinching, hitting with a small broomstick, tapping students' heads, motivating students to behave disciplined and actively participate in class by first understanding the students' characters, separating and placing misbehaving students in front, encouraging active participation by rewarding correct answers with applause, providing encouragement and special attention, using appropriate images for the material, facilitating empathy development by involving students in cooperative games, addressing conflicts among students by identifying the root cause and approaching the involved students, mediating and accompanying to resolve issues, involving parents from the beginning to discipline students and ensuring parental control remains.
