Abstract

ABSTRAK Toxic relationship merupakan fenomena yang lebih sering terjadi dalam hubungan berpacaran di mana terdapat pola interaksi yang tidak sehat antara pasangan. Salah satu kasusnya adalah mahasiswa bernama RA di IAKN Toraja ia terlibat dalam hubungan toxic dan memilih untuk tetap mempertahankannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis alasan mahasiswa IAKN Toraja mempertahankan toxic relationship dalam berpacaran dengan menggunakan teori Abraham Harold Maslow tentang hierarki kebutuhan manusia, yang mencakup kebutuhan fisiologis, rasa aman, kepemilikan dan cinta, penghargaan dan aktualisasi diri. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif, dengan pengumpulan data melalui wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa IAKN Toraja (RA) mempertahankan toxic relationship karena sang pacar dan keluarganya memenuhi kebutuhan fisiologis, rasa aman dan kepemilikan dan cinta yang tidak terpenuhi dari lingkungan dan keluarganya sendiri. Kata kunci: toxic relationship, berpacaran, mahasiswa, teori Abraham Harold Maslow. ABSTRACT Toxic relationship is a phenomenon that occurs more often in dating relationships where there are unhealthy patterns of interaction between partners. One of the cases is a student named RA at IAKN Toraja who is involved in a toxic relationship and chooses to maintain it. This study aims to analyze the reasons IAKN Toraja students maintain toxic relationships in dating using Abraham Harold Maslow's theory of the hierarchy of human needs, which includes physiological needs, security, belonging and love, appreciation and self-actualization. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection through interviews. The results showed that IAKN Toraja (RA) students maintain toxic relationships because the boyfriend and his family fulfill the physiological, security and belonging and love needs that are not met from the environment and his own family.
