Abstract

Salah satu aspek sentral dalam dunia pendidikan adalah sosok pendidik atau guru yang memiliki beberapa peran penting. Tanggung jawab pendidik dalam pengembangan pendidikan mencakup hal-hal berikut: penanaman nilai, pengembangan karakter, penyediaan pembelajaran, penyediaan bantuan dan dorongan, pengawasan dan bimbingan siswa, pendisiplinan anak, dan pemodelan perilaku lingkungan. Peran guru juga memiliki kaitan erat dengan pastoral dalam konteks pemberian dukungan emosional, spiritual, dan psikologis kepada individu. Meskipun peran guru dan pastoral memiliki fokus dan tujuan yang berbeda, namun peran guru dan pastoral dapat saling melengkapi dalam memberikan bimbingan dan perhatian kepada seseorang. Pemilihan topik didasari oleh kenyataan di lapangan sehingga tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan peran guru sebagai fasilitator pastoral dalam meningkatkan prestasi akademik siswa tunagrahita di SLB Dharma Wanita Makale. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif dimana data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara dan dokumen,. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh penulis menunjukkan bahwa peran guru sebagai fasilitator pastoral membantu anak tunagrahita dalam meningkatkan prestasi akademiknya melalui analisis data mendapatkan bahwa peran guru sebagai fasilitator pastoral dapat mempengaruhi peningkatan prestasi akademik siswa tunagrahita. One of the central aspects in the world of education is the figure of the educator or teacher who has several important roles. Educators' responsibilities in educational development include the following: instilling values, developing character, providing learning, providing assistance and encouragement, supervising and guiding students, disciplining children, and modeling environmental behavior. The role of the teacher also has a close relationship with the pastoral in the context of providing emotional, spiritual and psychological support to individuals. Even though the teacher and pastoral roles have different focuses and goals, the teacher and pastoral roles can complement each other in providing guidance and attention to someone. The choice of topic is based on reality in the field so the aim of this research is to describe the role of teachers as pastoral facilitators in improving the academic achievement of mentally retarded students at SLB Dharma Wanita Makale. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach where data is collected through interviews and documents. The research results obtained by the author show that the teacher's role as a pastoral facilitator helps mentally retarded children improve their academic achievement. Through data analysis, it was found that the teacher's role as a pastoral facilitator can influence the increase in academic achievement of mentally retarded students.
