Abstract

Penelitian ini berjudul “ Pemberdayaan Ekonomi Berdasarkan Perspektif Etika Protestan Max Weber di Jemaat Gasing Kecamatan Mengkendek “. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pemberdayaan ekonomi yang dilakukan gereja bagi jemaat serta menganalisisnya berdasarkan pemikiran Max Weber tentang Etika Protestan. Menurut Weber, nilai-nilai seperti kerja keras, disiplin, hidup hemat, tanggung jawab, dan memanfaatkan hasil usaha secara bijaksana dapat mendorong peningkatan kesejahteraan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumnetasi terhadap pendeta, majelis gereja, dan beberapa anggota jemaat di jemaat gasing kecematan Mengkendek. Data kemudian dianalisis melalui proses reduksi data, penyadian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa gereja telah berupaya melakukan pemberdayaan ekonomi melalui program ternak babi yang bertujuan membantu meningkatkan kesejahteraan jemaat. Namun, pelaksanaan program masih menghadapi beberapa kendala, seperti belum adanya pengelolaan yang maksimal, kurangnya pendampingan, serta belum meratanya pemahaman jemaat. Terhadap tanggung jawab dalam menjalankan program. Jika ditinjau dari perspketif etika protestan Max Weber, nilai kerja keras, disiplin tanggung jawab, dan hidup hemat sudah mulai terlihat, tetapi penerapannya belum optimal sehingga tujuan pemberdayaan ekonomi belum tercapai secara maksimal. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa gereja memiliki peran penting dalam pemberdayaan ekonomi jemaat. Oleh karena itu, gereja perlu meningkatkan pembinaan, pendampingan, serta pengawasan terhadap program ekonomi agar nilai-nilai Etika Protestan dapat diterapkan secara konsisten dan berdampak pada peningkatan kesejahteraan jemaat. ABSTRACT This study is titled “ Economic Emprowerment Based on Max Weber’s Protestant Ethic perspective within the Gasing Congregation, Mengkendek District. “ It aims to examine the economic empowerment initiatives undertaken by the church for its congregation and to analyze them through then lens of Max Weber’s concept of the protestant Ethic. According to Weber, values such as hard work, discipline, frugality, responsibility, and the wise use of the fruits of one’s labor can foster improved well-being. The study employs a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. Data were gathered through observation, interviews, and document analysis involving the pastor, church council members, and several congregants of the Gasing Congregation in Mengkendek Districk. The data were subsequently analyzed through processes of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the church has endeavored to facilitate economic empowerment through a pig rearing program designed to enhance the congregation’s well-being. However, the program’s implementation faces several challenges, including suboptimal management, a lack of ongoing guidance, and an uneven understanding among congregants regarding their responsibilities in carrying out the program. Viewed through the lens of Max Weber’s Protestan Ethic, values such as hard work, discipline, responsibility, and frugality are already evident; however, their application remains suboptimal, preventing the full realization of economic emprowerment goals. This study concludes that the church plays a vital role in the economic empowerment of the congregation. Consequently, the church needs to enhance the guidance, mentoring, and oversight of economic programs to ensure that protestant ethic values are consistently applied, thereby improving the congregation’s well-being.
