Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perubahan sosial dalam membangun kerukunan umat beragama di Malanu Kampung, Sorong, Papua Barat Daya. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan studi pustaka dengan melibatkan sepuluh informan yang terdiri atas tokoh agama dan masyarakat. Analisis data dilakukan melalui reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori fungsionalisme struktural Talcott Parsons yang memandang masyarakat sebagai suatu sistem yang saling berkaitan dalam menjaga keseimbangan sosial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perubahan sosial memberikan dampak positif berupa meningkatnya akses informasi, pengetahuan, dan komunikasi, tetapi juga menimbulkan dampak negatif seperti berkurangnya interaksi langsung, melemahnya solidaritas, serta munculnya perilaku yang kurang menghargai pelaksanaan ibadah umat beragama lain. Kerukunan umat beragama di Malanu belum sepenuhnya terwujud secara optimal karena masih terdapat kendala dalam komunikasi dan sikap saling menghargai. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan penguatan toleransi, komunikasi, dan kerja sama seluruh elemen masyarakat agar kerukunan tetap terpelihara di tengah perubahan sosial. ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze social changes in the context of fostering interfaith harmony in Malanu Kampung, Sorong, Southwest Papua. It employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review, involving ten informants comprising religious and community leaders. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The study utilizes Talcott Parsons' structural-functionalism theory, which views society as an interconnected system that maintains social equilibrium. The findings indicate that social change has yielded positive impacts—such as increased access to information, knowledge, and communication—but has also brought negative consequences, including reduced face-to-face interaction, weakened solidarity, and the emergence of behaviors that show a lack of respect for the religious practices of others. Interfaith harmony in Malanu has not yet been fully realized due to persistent challenges regarding communication and mutual respect. Therefore, it is essential to strengthen tolerance, communication, and cooperation among all segments of society to preserve harmony amidst social change.
