Abstract

Penelitian ini dari keprihatinan kondisi ekonomi anggota jemaat yang masih tergolong rendah karena mayoritas berprofesi sebagai petani dengan pendapatan yang tidak menentu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran majelis gereja dalam pemberdayaan ekonomi jemaat di Gereja Toraja Jemaat Moria Ratte Masa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif dan data diperoleh melalui wawancara, observasi dan kajian pustaka. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa majelis gereja dan anggota jemaat telah memahami entrepreneurship Kristen. Majelis gereja telah melakukan perannya dalam upaya pemberdayaan ekonomi jemaat namun belum terlaksana secara optimal. Program yang ada masih didominasi diakonia karitatif dengan memberikan bantuan yang masih bersifat sementara. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pengembangan program pemberdayaan yang lebih produktif seperti bantuan modal usaha, pemberian bibit pertanian, pelatihan kewirausahaan yang diharapkan dapat menciptakan kemandirian ekonomi jemaat serta mendukung pelayanan gereja yang berkelanjutan sesuai dengan nilai-nilai entrepreneurship Kristen. ABSTRACT This research was motivated by the economic condition of the church congregation members, which remains relatively low because the majority work as farmers with unstable incomes. The purpose of this study is to analyze the role of the church elders in empowering the economic welfare of the congregation at Gereja Toraja Jemaat Moria Ratte Masa. This research employed a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and literature review. The findings indicate that both the church elders and congregation members have an understanding of Christian entrepreneurship. The church elders have carried out their roles in supporting the economic empowerment of the congregation; however, these efforts have not yet been implemented optimally. Existing programs are still dominated by charitable diaconal activities that provide only temporary assistance. Therefore, it is necessary to develop more productive empowerment programs, such as providing business capital, distributing agricultural seeds, and conducting entrepreneurship training. These initiatives are expected to foster the economic independence of the congregation while supporting sustainable church ministry in accordance with the values of Christian entrepreneurship.
