Abstract
ABSTRACT This study aims to examine Alexander Schmemann's thoughts on liturgy and their relevance to the understanding of the liturgy of the Bukit Nebo Tibongso' Congregation. The main problem identified is that the congregation still understands liturgy as a series of formal worship services completed within the church building. Using qualitative interpretive methods through interviews, observations, and literature review, this study found that the congregation's understanding of liturgy remains ritualistic and ceremonial, influenced by a lack of systematic and ongoing liturgical guidance. Based on Schmemann's thinking, true liturgy is a spiritual event in which humans, as homo liturgicus, are called to offer their entire lives to God in thanksgiving (eucharistia). Therefore, the celebration of faith and concrete action in daily life are inseparable. Keywords: Liturgy, Alexander Schmemann, Worship, Homo Liturgicus, Celebration and Action.
