Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis konsep self esteem berdasarkan tokoh Don dalam film animasi Jumbo dalam perspektif pendidikan karakter dan relevansinya terhadap siswa kelas VIII di UPT SMP Kristen Makale. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Informan penelitian terdiri dari guru Pendidikan Agama Kristen dan siswa kelas VIIIG. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari 25 siswa terdapat 11 siswa yang teridentifikasi memiliki self esteem rendah, yang ditandai dengan sikap tidak percaya diri, takut gagal, tidak menghargai diri dan orang lain, serta tidak puas terhadap diri sendiri. Konsep self esteem yang ditampilkan melalui tokoh Don meliputi percaya diri, penerimaan diri, membangun relasi yang baik, optimisme, menghargai diri dan orang lain, serta keberanian berkreasi. Nilai-nilai tersebut relevan sebagai media pendidikan karakter untuk membantu siswa meningkatkan self esteem. Kata kunci: self esteem, tokoh Don, film animasi Jumbo, pendidikan karakter ABSTRACK This research aims to analyze the concept of self-esteem based on the character Don in the animated film Jumbo from the perspective of character education and its relevance to eighth-grade students at the Makale Christian Junior High School. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research informants consisted of Christian Religious Education teachers and eighth-grade students. The results showed that out of 25 students, 11 were identified as having low self-esteem, characterized by a lack of self-confidence, fear of failure, a lack of respect for themselves and others, and dissatisfaction with themselves. The concept of self-esteem portrayed through the character Don includes self-confidence, self-acceptance, building good relationships, optimism, respect for oneself and others, and the courage to be creative. These values are relevant as a medium for character education to help students improve their self-esteem. Keywords: self-esteem, the character Don, the animated film Jumbo, character education.
