Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran kepemimpinan hamba Majelis Gereja dalam memperkuat partisipasi pemuda untuk kehidupan persekutuan di Gereja Toraja Jemaat Palian. Penelitian dilatarbelakangi oleh menurunnya partisipasi pemuda dalam kegiatan persekutuan, pelayanan, dan ibadah gereja yang dipengaruhi oleh kurang optimalnya pendampingan, motivasi, serta kerja sama Majelis Gereja dengan pengurus PPGT. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Informan penelitian terdiri atas Majelis Gereja, pengurus PPGT, anggota PPGT aktif, dan anggota PPGT yang kurang aktif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Majelis Gereja telah memahami konsep kepemimpinan hamba sebagai kepemimpinan yang mengutamakan pelayanan, keteladanan, dan kepedulian terhadap jemaat. Namun, penerapannya dalam pembinaan pemuda belum berjalan secara optimal. Rendahnya partisipasi pemuda dipengaruhi oleh faktor lingkungan pergaulan, media sosial, kurangnya dukungan orang tua, serta minimnya pendampingan dan motivasi dari Majelis Gereja. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa kepemimpinan hamba Majelis Gereja memiliki peran penting dalam memperkuat partisipasi pemuda melalui pendampingan, pembinaan, motivasi, dan kerja sama yang berkelanjutan dengan pengurus PPGT guna meningkatkan keterlibatan pemuda dalam kehidupan persekutuan gereja. This study aims to determine the role of the Church Council’s servant leadership in strengthening youth participation in fellowship life at Gereja Toraja Jemaat Palian. The research is motivated by the declining youth participation in fellowship, service, and worship activities, which is influenced by suboptimal mentoring, motivation, and cooperation between the Church Council and PPGT administrators. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research informants consisted of the Church Council, PPGT administrators, active PPGT members, and less active PPGT members. The research results indicate that the Church Council has understood the concept of servant leadership as leadership that prioritizes service, example, and care for the congregation. However, its implementation in youth development has not been carried out optimally. Low youth participation is influenced by factors such as social environment, social media, lack of parental support, as well as limited mentoring and motivation from the Church Council. This study concludes that the servant leadership of the Church Council plays a vital role in strengthening youth participation through mentoring, development, motivation, and sustainable cooperation with PPGT administrators, so as to increase youth involvement in the church’s fellowship life.
