Abstract

Latar belakang penelitian ini didasarkan pada kenyataan bahwa sebagian anggota jemaat kurang berminat mengikuti ibadah yang menggunakan bahasa Toraja karena mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami bahasa yang digunakan. Kondisi tersebut berdampak pada penghayatan ibadah, pemahaman firman Tuhan, serta partisipasi jemaat dalam pelaksanaan ibadah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjadi kontribusi bagi IAKN Toraja dan juga menjadi bahan pertimbangan bagi Jemaat Tamatiku dalam ibadah kontekkstual. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan lokasi penelitian di Gereja Toraja Jemaat Tamatiku. Data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Informan penelitian terdiri atas anggota jemaat, majelis jemaat, dan pendeta yang terlibat dalam pelaksanaan ibadah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rendahnya minat beribadah dalam tata ibadah berbahasa Toraja dipengaruhi oleh ketidaksesuaian antara bahasa yang digunakan dalam liturgi dengan konteks budaya dan bahasa sehari-hari jemaat. Sebagian besar anggota jemaat, khususnya generasi muda, lebih terbiasa menggunakan bahasa Indonesia yang dipadukan dengan bahasa Tae sehingga mengalami kesulitan memahami istilah-istilah liturgis dalam bahasa Toraja. Akibatnya, jemaat mengalami hambatan dalam menghayati ibadah, memahami firman Tuhan, serta mengekspresikan respons iman secara utuh. Ditinjau dari teori liturgi kontekstual Anscar J. Chupungco, pelaksanaan ibadah kontekstual seharusnya memperhatikan pola budaya, bahasa, dan cara berkomunikasi jemaat agar pesan Injil dapat diterima dan dimaknai dengan baik. Oleh karena itu, Gereja Toraja Jemaat Tamatiku perlu mengembangkan bentuk ibadah kontekstual yang lebih sesuai dengan pola budaya jemaat tanpa menghilangkan identitas budaya Toraja, sehingga ibadah dapat menjadi sarana pertumbuhan iman dan wadah jemaat merespon kasih karunia dari Allah yang lebih mendalam. Abstract The background of this research is based on the fact that some congregation members are less interested in attending worship services conducted in the Toraja language because they have difficulty understanding the language used. This condition affects the experience of worship, understanding of God's word, and congregation participation in the implementation of worship. This research aims to be a contribution to IAKN Toraja and also serve as a consideration for the Tamatiku Congregation in contextual worship. This research uses a descriptive qualitative research method with the research location at the Toraja Church Tamatiku Congregation. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research informants consist of congregation members, church council, and pastors involved in the implementation of worship. The research results indicate that the low interest in worship in Toraja-language liturgy is influenced by the mismatch between the language used in the liturgy and the cultural and everyday language context of the congregation. Most congregation members, especially the younger generation, are more accustomed to using Indonesian combined with Tae language, making it difficult for them to understand liturgical terms in Toraja. As a result, the congregation experiences obstacles in appreciating the worship, understanding God's word, and expressing their faith response fully. From the perspective of Anscar J. Chupungco's contextual liturgy theory, the implementation of contextual worship should take into account the cultural patterns, language, and communication methods of the congregation so that the message of the Gospel can be received and understood properly. Therefore, the Toraja Church of Jemaat Tamatiku needs to develop a form of contextual worship that is more in line with the cultural patterns of the congregation without eliminating Toraja cultural identity, so that worship can become a means of faith growth and a place for the congregation to respond to God's grace more deeply.
