Abstract

Cristina Midian (2020218645), Studi Teologi Kesucian Terhadap Penggunaan Veil Dalam Pemberkatan Perkawinan Di Gereja Toraja Jemaat Batukara, dibawah bimbingan Naomi Sampe, Ph,D. sebagai dosen pembimbing I dan Dr. Semuel Tokam, M.Th. sebagai dosen pembimbing II. Penelitian ini membahas tentang makna kesucian yang terkandung dalam penggunaan veil(kerudung putih) saat pemberkatan perkawinan di Gereja Toraja Jemaat Batukara. tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memahami apakah penggunaan veil sebagai tradisi, atau memiliki makna teologis yang lebih dalam. penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, dengan wawancara langsung kepada beberapa informan serta studi Pustaka. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa veil dipahami sebagai simbol kesucian, penyerahan diri kepada Tuhan, dan kesiapan memulai hidup dalam pemeliharaan Tuhan. penelitian ini menyarankan agar gereja lebih aktif menjelaskan makna simbol-simbol yang ada dalam pemberkatan perkawinan kepada pasangan yang akan diberkati, dan juga seluruh warga gereja, agar tidak hanya dilakukan sebagai kebiasaan, tetapi sungguh-sungguh menghayati bahwa perkawinan adalah sesuatu yang kudus dan sakral. Kata Kunci: Makna, veil, Teologi kesucian, Gereja toraja ABSTRACT Cristina Midian (2020218645), A Theological Study on the Sanctity of Using the Veil During Wedding Blessings at the Toraja Church, Batukara Congregation, under the supervision of Naomi Sampe, Ph.D. as the first advisor and Dr. Semuel Tokam, M.Th. as the second advisor.This research discusses the meaning of sanctity embodied in the use of the veil (white head covering) during wedding blessing ceremonies at the Toraja Church, Batukara Congregation. The purpose of this study is to understand whether the use of the veil is merely a tradition or holds a deeper theological meaning. This study employs a qualitative approach, involving direct interviews with several informants as well as literature review.The results of the research show that the veil is understood as a symbol of sanctity, surrender to God, and readiness to begin a life under God's care. The study recommends that the church be more proactive in explaining the meaning of symbols used in wedding blessings to the couples being blessed and to the entire congregation, so that these symbols are not merely performed out of habit, but are truly appreciated as part of the understanding that marriage is holy and sacred.
