Abstract
Penelitian ini berangkat dari persoalan yang terjadi dalam jemaat yaitu terkait pelaksanaan “Lelang Amerika” yang ditinjau dari pengumpulan sumbangan yang diadakan oleh Paulus untuk memotivasi jemaat di Korintus yaitu memberi dengan sukacita dalam 2 Korintus 9:6-15. Dengan demikian, ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis makna memberi dengan sukacita secara hermeneutik 2 Korintus 9:6-15 dan implikasinya pada metode “lelang amerika” di Gereja Toraja Jemaat Buntuminanga. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan hermeneutik gramatikal-historis. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilaksanakan, diperoleh makna dari 2 Korintus 9:6-15 mengenai memberi dengan sukacita yang artinya memberi dengan gembira, telah diputuskan dalam hati, tidak terpaksa, tidak dengan perasaan menyesal. Di Buntuminga, jemaat memberikan persembahan berupa natura yang diuangkan melalui lelang. Melalui lelang amerika , ternyata jemaat memberi dengan terpaksa dan juga tidak ingin malu. Metode ini kontras dengan ajaran Paulus. Metode lelang ini harus dihapuskan agar jemaat memberi dengan sukacita sehingga pemberiannya menimbulkan ucapan syukur kepada Tuhan. ABSTRACT This research begins with a problem within the congregation, namely the implementation of the "American Auction," as seen in the collection of donations held by Paul to motivate the Corinthian congregation to give joyfully in 2 Corinthians 9:6-15. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the hermeneutical meaning of giving joyfully in 2 Corinthians 9:6-15 and its implications for the "American Auction" method in the Buntuminanga Congregation of the Toraja Church. The research method used is a qualitative method with a grammatical-historical hermeneutic approach. Based on the research conducted, the meaning of 2 Corinthians 9:6-15 regarding giving joyfully is obtained, meaning giving with joy, having decided in the heart, not under compulsion, and without feelings of regret. In Buntuminanga, the congregation gave offerings in kind that were converted into cash through auction. Through the American auction, it appears that the congregation gave reluctantly and also did not want to be embarrassed. This method contrasts with Paul's teachings. This auction method must be eliminated so that the congregation gives joyfully, so that their giving engenders gratitude to God.
