Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji pemahaman dan implementasi sakralitas hari Sabat dalam kehidupan kerja warga jemaat di Gereja Toraja Cabang Kebaktian Ratte berdasarkan Keluaran 20:8-11. Sabat merupakan perintah Allah yang menekankan pentingnya untuk menguduskan hari ketujuh sebagai hari perhentian yang kudus bagi Tuhan. Dalam kehidupan jemaat praktik kerja sering kali mengaburkan makna dan kekudusan Sabat. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif pendekatan fenomenologi, penelitian ini menggali pemahaman jemaat, penelitian ini menggali pengalaman hidup dan makna subjektif yang dirasakan jemaat dalam memahami serta mempraktikkan hari Sabat sebagai hari kudus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar jemaat memahami hari Sabat sebagai perintah Allah untuk beristirahat dan beribadah, namun dalam praktiknya, tidak semua jemaat mampu menjaga kekudusan hari tersebut karena tuntutan pekerjaan, aktivitas ekonomi, adat,sosial serta kegiatan yang lainnya. Kajian ini menegaskan pentingnya pembinaan teologis dan pendampingan pastoral agar pemahaman tentang Sabat tidak hanya berhenti pada pengetahuan, tetapi terwujud dalam praktik kehidupan yang setia pada kehendak Allah. ABSTRACT This research examines the understanding and implementation of the sanctity of the Sabbath in the work life of the congregation members at the Toraja Church, Ratte Service Branch, based on Exodus 20:8-11. The Sabbath is a commandment from God that emphasizes the importance of sanctifying the seventh day as a holy day of rest for the Lord. In the life of the congregation, work practices often obscure the meaning and sanctity of the Sabbath. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, this research explores the congregation's understanding, delving into their life experiences and the subjective meanings they perceive in understanding and practicing the Sabbath as a holy day. The research results show that most congregants understand the Sabbath as God's command to rest and worship, but in practice, not all congregants are able to maintain the sanctity of the day due to work demands, economic activities, customs, social obligations, and other activities. This study emphasizes the importance of theological education and pastoral guidance so that the understanding of the Sabbath does not stop at knowledge, but is manifested in a life practice faithful to God's will.
