Abstract

Tradisi mangaro tomate di Sarambu Lembang Burasia merupakan bagian dari tradisi Rambu Solo', yang bertujuan untuk menggenapi dari serangkaian adat atau upacara kematian dari mendiang orang tua yang telah dikuburkan. Penulisan ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis relasi agama Kristen dan budaya lokal dalam tradisi mangaro tomate di Sarambu Lembang Burasia. Fokus utama penelitian adalah bagaimana proses interaksi, adaptasi, dan negosiasi nilai-nilai agama Kristen dengan praktik budaya lokal dalam pelaksanaan tradisi Mangaro Tomate dengan menggunakan konsep AGIL. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara dan observasi partisipatif terhadap pelaku adat, tokoh agama, serta masyarakat setempat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tradisi Mangaro Tomate tidak hanya menjadi ruang ekspresi budaya lokal, tetapi juga arena inkulturasi nilai-nilai Kristen ke dalam praktik adat. Masyarakat Kristen di Sarambu mampu menyesuaikan ajaran agama dengan warisan budaya tanpa menghilangkan esensi keduanya. Proses ini melahirkan bentuk-bentuk baru dalam ritual dan makna Mangaro Tomate, seperti penyisipan doa-doa Kristen dan reinterpretasi simbol-simbol adat sesuai ajaran iman. Relasi dinamis ini memperlihatkan bahwa agama dan budaya dapat berjalan beriringan, saling memperkaya, dan memperkuat identitas masyarakat setempat. ABSTRACT The mangaro tomate tradition in Sarambu Lembang Burasia is part of the Rambu Solo' tradition, which aims to fulfill a series of customs or death ceremonies for deceased parents who have been buried. This paper aims to analyze the relationship between Christianity and local culture in the mangaro tomate tradition in Sarambu Lembang Burasia. The main focus of the study is how the process of interaction, adaptation, and negotiation of Christian religious values with local cultural practices in the implementation of the Mangaro Tomate tradition using the AGIL concept. The research method used is qualitative descriptive with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews and participatory observation of traditional actors, religious figures, and the local community. The results of the study show that the Mangaro Tomate tradition is not only a space for local cultural expression, but also an arena for the inculturation of Christian values into traditional practices. The Christian community in Sarambu is able to adapt religious teachings to cultural heritage without eliminating the essence of both. This process gives birth to new forms in the ritual and meaning of Mangaro Tomate, such as the insertion of Christian prayers and the reinterpretation of traditional symbols according to the teachings of faith. This dynamic relationship shows that religion and culture can go hand in hand, enriching each other, and strengthening the identity of the local community.
