Abstract

Memahami tentang perjalanan rancangan Allah yang sungguh baik dalam kehidupan umat manusia, maka akan tiba pada pembahasan yang hangat sekaitan dengan pemahaman eskatologi yang menjadi bagian yang tidak terpisahkan dalam dunia pengajaran kekristenan, baik eskatologi khusus maupun eskatologi umum. Interpretasi terhadap eskatologi khusus mengenai konseptual intermediate state dalam bingkai kondisi jiwa yang telah terpisah dengan material pasca kematian menjadi landasan pengajaran yang sangat diperlukan untuk dipatenkan. Banyak interpretasi yang bermunculan ketika mencoba menafsiran sekaitan dengan kondisi jiwa. Dalam penelitian ini, mencoba menyajikan bagaimana konseptual intermediate state dalam kapasitas pengajaran Yohanes Calvin, sehingga dapat memberikan implikasi yang berdampak bagi pengajaran gereja-gereja yang mengafirmasi diri sebagai gereja dengan pengajaran bercorak teologi Yohanes Calvin, yang salah satunya ialah sinode Gereja Toraja Mamasa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitain ini, menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi literatur dan deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara dan dokumenter. Pemahaman Yohanes Calvin menganut paham dikotomi yang mengarahkan bahwa kondisi jiwa yang telah terpisah dengan tubuh pasca kematian, mengalami kekekalan dan tidak hancur bersama dengan tubuh yang disebut sebagai material. Jiwa akan bersama-sama dengan sang Bapa, menanti kesempurnaan kebangkitan tubuh ketika kedatangan kembali telah terjadi. ABSTRACT Understanding the journey of God's truly good design in the life of mankind, then it will arrive at a heated discussion related to the understanding of eschatology which is an inseparable part of the world of Christian teaching, both special eschatology and general eschatology. Interpretation of special eschatology regarding the conceptual intermediate state in the framework of the condition of the soul that has been separated from the material after death becomes a very necessary teaching foundation to be patented. Many interpretations have emerged when trying to interpret in relation to the condition of the soul. In this study, it tries to present how the conceptual intermediate state is in the capacity of John Calvin's teaching, so that it can provide implications that have an impact on the teaching of churches that affirm themselves as churches with teachings based on John Calvin's theology, one of which is the Toraja Mamasa Church synod. The research method used in this study uses a qualitative research method with a literature study and descriptive approach. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentaries. John Calvin's understanding adheres to the dichotomy which directs that the condition of the soul that has been separated from the body after death, experiences eternity and is not destroyed together with the body which is called material. The soul will be with the Father, awaiting the perfection of the resurrection of the body when the return has occurred. Keywords: Dichotomy, Toraja Mamasa Church, Intermediate State, John Calvin.
