Abstract

ABSTRACT This study is an expository study of Philippians 2:1-11 to explore the meaning of humility and servant-hearted service as exemplified by Christ. The focus of this study is to understand how the example of Christ, who emptied Himself, became obedient to the point of death, and took the form of a servant, can be applied relevantly in the ministry of elders and deacons. The findings of this study indicate that service in accordance with the teachings of Philippians 2:1-11 includes building congregational unity, serving without favoritism, working together in a team, sacrificing for the sake of service, and being an example of faith. By applying this principle, elders and deacons can carry out their ministry duties effectively to glorify God and strengthen church unity. Keywords: Servant-hearted servant, Philippians 2:1-11, elders, deacons, humility, Christian ministry.
