Abstract

Adat Rambu solo’ dan iman Kristen dalam konteks Toraja selalu mencari titik temu secara ideologis maupun sosiologis. Namun keduanya merupakan sebuah penanda identitas bagi masyarakat Toraja. Kedua penanda identitas ini secara ideologis dan sosiologis ada di dalam diri masyarakat Toraja. Namun karena berangkat dari latar belakang yang berbeda sehingga keduanya seperti berjalan sendiri-sendiri. Hal ini menimbulkan sebuah asumsi terjadinya dualisme identitas masyarakat Toraja yang beragama Kristen. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan apakah terjadi dualisme identitas di kalangan warga jemaat dan melihat bagaimana sikap gereja terhadap rambu solo' dalam kaitannya dengan iman Kristen. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Adapun informan terdiri beberapa presbiter dan warga jemaat yang dipilih secara random dari berbagai wilayah dan klasis di Tana Toraja. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, penulis mendapatkan bahwa warga jemaat secara sosiologis terjebak dalam dualisme identitas dan sikap gereja yang lebih condong untuk menolak rambu solo’ dari sisi teologisnya. ABSTRACT The Rambu solo' custom and Christian fail h in the Toraja context are always looking for a common ground both ideologically and sociologically. But both are markers of identity for the Toraja people. These two identity markers are ideologically and sociologically present in the Toraja community. However, because they come from dijferent backgrounds, both of them seem to go their separate yvays. This gives rise to an assumption of duality in the identity of the Toraja people. This study aims to find out whether there is a dualism of identity among the members of the congregation and to see how the church’s attitude towards rambu solo' is relatedto Christian faith. This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods. The informants consisted of several presbyters and members of the congregation who were randomly selectedfrom various regions and classes in Tana Toraja. Based on the results of the analysis, the authors found that the members of the congregation were sociologically trapped in the dualism of identity and the attitude of the church which was more inclined to reject the solo sign from the theological point of view.
