Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi tanggung jawab penatua di Gereja Toraja Jemaat Tinapu serta mendeskripsikan peran bimbingan pastoral dalam meningkatkannya. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara terhadap pendeta, penatua, dan anggota jemaat, kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tanggung jawab penatua belum terlaksana secara optimal. Sebagian penatua telah aktif dalam ibadah, kunjungan pastoral, rapat majelis, dan pembinaan jemaat, sedangkan sebagian lainnya kurang aktif karena kesibukan pekerjaan, tanggung jawab keluarga, kondisi kesehatan, kegiatan adat, keterbatasan pemahaman terhadap tugas pelayanan, serta rendahnya motivasi dan disiplin. Bimbingan pastoral yang dilakukan melalui pembinaan rohani, pendalaman Alkitab, doa bersama, pengarahan, evaluasi, nasihat, motivasi, dan pendampingan terbukti meningkatkan pemahaman, komitmen, dan tanggung jawab penatua dalam melayani jemaat. Dengan demikian, bimbingan pastoral berperan penting dalam memperkuat kehidupan rohani, meningkatkan disiplin dan komitmen pelayanan, serta mendorong penatua melaksanakan tugasnya secara lebih bertanggung jawab sehingga kualitas pelayanan gereja menjadi lebih efektif. Undergraduate Thesis. Supervised by Dr. Ismail Banne Ringgi’, M.Th. as Advisor I and Dr. Semuel Tokam, M.Th. as Advisor II. This study aims to identify the factors influencing the responsibilities of elders at the Toraja Church, Tinapu Congregation, and to describe the role of pastoral guidance in enhancing their responsibility in ministry. This qualitative study collected data through interviews with the pastor, elders, and congregation members, which were analyzed descriptively. The findings reveal that the elders' responsibilities have not been fully carried out optimally. While some elders actively participated in worship services, pastoral visits, church council meetings, and congregational development, others were less active due to work commitments, family responsibilities, health conditions, customary obligations, limited understanding of their ministerial duties, and a lack of motivation and discipline. Pastoral guidance through spiritual formation, Bible study, prayer meetings, ministry direction, evaluation, counseling, motivation, and pastoral mentoring was found to improve the elders' understanding, commitment, and responsibility in serving the congregation. Therefore, pastoral guidance plays an important role in strengthening the spiritual life of elders, increasing their discipline and commitment to ministry, and encouraging them to carry out their responsibilities more effectively, thereby improving the quality of church ministry.
