Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi tantangan yang dihadapi guru Sekolah Minggu Gereja Toraja (SMGT) dalam mengajar kelas gabungan serta implikasinya terhadap pertumbuhan iman anak di Gereja Toraja Jemaat Orong. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan melibatkan lima guru Sekolah Minggu sebagai informan utama dan dua anak Sekolah Minggu sebagai informan pendukung. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi, kemudian di analisis melalui reduksi data, penyajian data, interpretasi data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru menghadapi tantangan dalam perencanaan pembelajaran, pelaksanaan pembelajaran, evaluasi pembelajaran, serta faktor eksternal berupa keterbatasan guru, sarana dan prasarana, serta dukungan gereja. Tantangan tersebut berdampak pada kurang optimalnya proses pembelajaran dan memengaruhi pertumbuhan iman anak. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan peningkatan kompetensi guru, dukungan gereja, serta penyediaan sarana dan prasarana yang memadai agar pembelajaran Sekolah Minggu dapat berlangsung Secara efektif dan mendukung pertumbuhan iman anak. Kata kunci : Guru Sekolah Minggu, kelas gabungan SMGT. This study aims to identify the challenges faced by Sunday School teachers at the Toraja chursh Sunday school (SMGT) in teaching combined classes and their implications for children’s faith development at the Toraja Church, Orong Congregation. This study eployed a descriptive qualitative approach involving five Sunday school teachers as the main informants and two Sunday school children as supporting informants. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and were analyzed using data reducation, data presentation, data interprentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that the teachers face challenges in lesson planning, learning implementation, learning evaluation, and external factors, including the limited number of teachers, inadequate facilities and infrastructure, and insufficient support from the church. These challenges affect the effectiveness of the teaching and learning process and influence the children’s faith development. Therefore, improving teachers’ competencies, strengthening church support, and providing adequate facilities and infrastructure are nacessary to ensure that Sunday school learning can be carried out effectively and support the children’s faith development.
