Abstract

Penelitian ini berangkat dari bagaimana strategi coping terhadap prokrastinasi akademik pada pengguna TikTok mahasiswa program studi psikologi Kristen. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi strategi coping yang digunakan mahasiswa Psikologi Kristen IAKN Toraja dalam menghadapi prokrastinasi akademik yang dipengaruhi oleh penggunaan TikTok, penelitian dilakukan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif studi lapangan, data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa seluruh informan mengalami prokrastinasi akademik yang ditandai dengan penundaan tugas, kesulitan fokus, dan kecenderungan menggunakan TikTok sebagai distraksi. Mahasiswa menerapkan dua bentuk strategi coping, yaitu problem-focused coping dan emotion-focused coping. Problem-focused coping tampak melalui pembatasan penggunaan TikTok, pengaturan lingkungan belajar, dan perencanaan tugas, yang terbukti membantu meningkatkan fokus. Sebaliknya, emotion-focused coping digunakan untuk meredakan stres melalui TikTok, namun justru memperkuat siklus prokrastinasi dan meningkatkan tekanan emosional. ABSTRACT This study examines the coping strategies used by students of the Christian Psychology Study Program at IAKN Toraja in dealing with academic procrastination influenced by TikTok usage. The research aims to identify the forms of coping strategies applied by students to address the tendency to delay academic tasks due to the intensity of TikTok use. A qualitative field study approach was employed, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that all informants experienced academic procrastination, characterized by delays in task completion, difficulties in maintaining focus, and a tendency to rely on TikTok as a source of distraction. Students applied two types of coping strategies, namely problem-focused coping and emotion-focused coping. Problem-focused coping was reflected in efforts to limit TikTok use, organize the learning environment, and plan academic tasks, which were shown to improve focus. In contrast, emotion-focused coping was used to relieve stress through TikTok; however, this strategy tended to reinforce the cycle of procrastination and increase emotional strain.
