Abstract
Larangan ma’badong bagi to dipasangbongi merupakan aturan adat dalam upacara kematian rambu solo’ masyarakat Toraja yang memiliki makna sosial, budaya, dan keagamaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan nilai-nilai pedagogis Kristiani yang terdapat dalam larangan tersebut, terutama yang berkaitan dengan pendidikan iman dan pembentukan karakter umat Kristen Toraja. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif melalui kajian pustaka dan analisis budaya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa larangan ma’badong bagi to dipasangbongi mengandung nilai-nilai pedagogis Kristiani, seperti penghormatan terhadap martabat manusia, keadilan sosial, hidup sederhana, solidaritas yang sesuai dengan kemampuan, serta ketaatan terhadap aturan yang berlaku. Nilai-nilai ini sejalan dengan ajaran Kristen yang menekankan kasih, tanggung jawab, dan penguasaan diri dalam kehidupan bersama. Larangan tersebut juga berperan sebagai sarana pendidikan nonformal yang membantu masyarakat membangun kesadaran moral dan spiritual agar tidak terjebak dalam persaingan status sosial pada upacara kematian. Oleh karena itu, larangan ma’badong bagi to dipasangbongi tidak hanya dipahami sebagai aturan adat, tetapi juga sebagai sarana pembelajaran nilai-nilai pedagogis Kristiani dalam konteks budaya Toraja. ABSTRACT The prohibition of Ma’badong for to dipasangbongi is a customary rule within the Rambu Solo’ funeral ceremony of the Toraja community, which carries profound social, cultural, and religious meanings. This study aims to explain the Christian pedagogical values embedded in this prohibition, particularly in relation to faith education and character formation among Toraja Christians. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach through literature review and cultural analysis. The findings indicate that the prohibition of Ma’badong for to dipasangbongi contains Christian pedagogical values such as respect for human dignity, social justice, simplicity of life, solidarity according to one’s capacity, and obedience to established norms. These values are consistent with Christian teachings that emphasize love, responsibility, and self-control in communal life. Furthermore, this prohibition functions as a form of non-formal education that helps the community develop moral and spiritual awareness, preventing them from being trapped in social status competition during funeral rituals. Therefore, the prohibition of Ma’badong for to dipasangbongi should not be understood merely as a customary regulation, but also as a meaningful medium for learning Christian pedagogical values within the Toraja cultural context.
