Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze the ethics of students in verbal communication towards teachers at SMPN 1 Rantetayo. The phenomena found suggest that some students still use less polite, ineffective language and lack respect for the teacher in everyday conversations. Ideally, verbal communication in school should reflect respect, courtesy and the use of constructive language. The research uses qualitative descriptive methods through observation, interview and documentation. The informant consisted of a Christian Religious Education teacher, a seventh-grade guardian, and two students. The results of the study found that students at SMPN 1 Rantetyo still had shortcomings in practicing good verbal communication ethics and being polite to teachers, even though theoretically they understood it. Christian education plays an important role in helping students understand the moral and ethical value of good speech. Keywords: Communication ethics, verbal communication, students, teachers, Christian Religious Education.
