Abstract

Kata kunci: Kebebasan, Jean Paul Sartre, Drama, My Mister, Eksistensialisme. ABSTRACT The drama My Mister, directed by Kim Won-seok, depicts the existential journey of several characters trapped in the routine and suffering of everyday life. This drama explores the theme of freedom which is the main focus of this study through the approach of Jean-Paul Sartre's existentialist philosophy. This thesis aims to examine the meaning of freedom in the drama My Mister using a qualitative method, text analysis. This research was conducted by analyzing important elements in the drama script, including characters, dialogues, and plot developments, to reveal how the theme of freedom is manifested in the interactions and conflicts faced by the characters. The results of the analysis show that freedom in the drama My Mister is not only related to the removal of external limitations, but also includes individual awareness, moral choices, and the responsibilities attached to those choices. This study found that although the characters experience various limitations, they have the freedom to choose how to respond to their life conditions, which reflects the Sartrean philosophy of existence and the search for meaning. Thus, this thesis provides new insights into the relationship between freedom and human existence, and confirms the relevance of Sartre's thoughts in understanding the characters and dynamics in the drama My Mister. Keywords: Freedom, Jean-Paul Sartre, Drama, My Mister, Existentialism.
