Abstract
This tradition contains the meaning of respect for ancestors, provisions for the spirit to the afterlife, and a symbol of social status. With the development of the times and the entry of Christian values, people's perceptions of this tradition have begun to vary. This study aims to determine the meaning of this tradition according to the perceptions of the Torajan people based on Mariasusai Dhavamony's phenomenology of religion approach. The method used is descriptive qualitative through interviews, observations, and literature studies. The results show that people's perceptions of this tradition are influenced by the religious experience they experience during the procession. The stronger the spiritual experience felt, the more sacred the meaning of this tradition in the eyes of the community. Conversely, for those who do not experience deep religious experience, this tradition is more seen as an inherited custom or merely a social symbol. Keywords: Buffalo Sacrifice, Rambu Solo, Religious Phenomenology, Pattan Ulusalu.
