Abstract
ABSTRACT This study aims to examine the meaning of the ma’papangngan rite in the Rambu Solo’ ceremony of the Sa’dan Sangkaropi community through a contextual theology perspective. The main focus of this study is to explore a deep understanding of ma’papangngan, so that it is not only carried out as a habit, but is interpreted spiritually and theologically. Using qualitative methods with observation and interviews, as well as the hospitality theory approach from Michelle Hershberger, it was found that ma’papangngan reflects Christian values such as love, solidarity, and empathy. This tradition is a means of building social relations and living the teachings of the Gospel, as stated in Matthew 25:35. In the contextual theology framework of Stephen Bevans, ma’papangngan becomes a bridge between culture and faith, showing that customs can enrich the experience of Christian faith locally. Key Words: Ma'papangngan, Rambu Solo', Hospitality Theology, Michelle Hershberger.
