Abstract

Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan fokus pada analisis tema pengampunan dan penebusan dalam film anime A Silent Voice berdurasi 130 menit. Data primer diperoleh melalui observasi intensif dengan menonton film secara berulang dan mengumpulkan adegan-adegan penting yang menggambarkan proses pengampunan dan penebusan, sedangkan data sekunder diperoleh dari literatur serta sumber resmi seperti Anime News Network dan IMDb. Analisis dilakukan menggunakan teknik analisis konten dengan kerangka teologi Anselmus, yang memandang dosa sebagai penghinaan terhadap kehormatan Allah dan menuntut satisfaction sebagai bentuk penebusan yang setimpal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa karakter utama, Shoya Ishida, mengalami transformasi dari pelaku bullying menjadi pribadi yang bertobat melalui permintaan maaf dan tindakan nyata untuk memperbaiki hubungan yang telah rusak. Proses pengampunan dan penebusan yang digambarkan dalam film tersebut sesuai dengan teori Anselmus, di mana pengampunan diberikan setelah adanya penebusan yang tulus dan perubahan sikap. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa A Silent Voice secara naratif merefleksikan konsep penebusan dan pengampunan dalam perspektif teologis, menegaskan pentingnya penyesalan, pengorbanan, dan rekonsiliasi dalam pemulihan hubungan sosial dan moral. ABSTRACT This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with a focus on analyzing the themes of forgiveness and redemption in the 130-minute anime film A Silent Voice. Primary data were obtained through intensive observation by repeatedly watching the film and collecting key scenes depicting the processes of forgiveness and redemption, while secondary data were gathered from literature and official sources such as Anime News Network and IMDb. The analysis was conducted using content analysis techniques within the framework of Anselm’s theology, which views sin as an offense against the honor of God and requires satisfaction as an appropriate form of redemption. The results show that the main character, Shoya Ishida, undergoes a transformation from a bully to a repentant individual through apologies and concrete actions to repair damaged relationships. The processes of forgiveness and redemption portrayed in the film align with Anselm’s theory, where forgiveness is granted following sincere redemption and behavioral change. This study concludes that A Silent Voice narratively reflects the concepts of redemption and forgiveness from a theological perspective, emphasizing the importance of remorse, sacrifice, and reconciliation in restoring social and moral relationships.
