Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran perempuan dalam tradisi Ma’ Bulle Tomate dari sudut pandang teologi feminis serta maknanya bagi Pendidikan Agama Kristen (PAK). Tradisi Ma’ Bulle Tomate merupakan bagian dari upacara adat pemakaman Rambu Solo’ di Toraja, di mana peti jenazah diusung secara gotong royong oleh masyarakat. Pada umumnya dilakukan oleh laki-laki, namun di Desa Kampung Baru, keterlibatan perempuan mulai terlihat dalam prosesi ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, serta pendekatan hermeneutik feminis dalam analisisnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterlibatan perempuan dalam tradisi ini mencerminkan pergeseran peran gender dan penolakan terhadap sistem patriarki, sejalan dengan prinsip kesetaraan dalam Kejadian 1:27. Dalam perspektif teologi feminis, tradisi ini menjadi simbol pemberdayaan perempuan dan pengakuan atas kontribusi mereka dalam ruang sosial dan spiritual. Bagi Pendidikan Agama Kristen, tradisi ini mengandung nilai-nilai kasih, solidaritas, penghormatan terhadap kehidupan, dan pembelajaran kontekstual tentang iman dan budaya. Dengan demikian, Ma’ Bulle Tomate tidak hanya memperkaya tradisi lokal tetapi juga menjadi sarana edukatif yang relevan untuk membentuk karakter Kristiani generasi muda. ABSTRACT This research aims to analyze the role of women in the Ma’ Bulle Tomate tradition from a feminist theological perspective and its significance for Christian Religious Education (CRE). Ma’ Bulle Tomate is a funeral tradition within the Torajan Rambu Solo’ ritual, where coffins are carried collectively by community members. While traditionally performed by men, in Kampung Baru Village, women's participation in this procession has become increasingly visible. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, supported by a feminist hermeneutical framework. The findings reveal that women’s involvement in this tradition reflects a shift in gender roles and a challenge to patriarchal structures, aligning with the theological message of equality in Genesis 1:27. From a feminist theological view, this tradition symbolizes the empowerment of women and recognizes their social and spiritual contributions. In the context of Christian Religious Education, the tradition embodies values of love, solidarity, reverence for life, and contextual learning of faith and culture. Thus, Ma’ Bulle Tomate not only enriches local tradition but also serves as a relevant educational medium for shaping the Christian character of the younger generation.
