Abstract
Masalah karakter siswa menjadi perhatian utama dalam dunia pendidikan dan boarding school dianggap sebagai model pendidikan yang efektif untuk membentuk karakter siswa secara komprehensif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis strategi pembentukan karakter Kristiani pada siswa di SMA Kristen Barana’, Toraja Utara. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi lapangan. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi, dengan melibatkan informan seperti kepala sekolah, guru agama, kepala asrama, dan siswa. Hasil penelitian mengidentifikasi empat strategi utama dalam pembentukan karakter, yaitu pembiasaan kegiatan keagamaan, pengembangan sikap sosial yang positif, keteladanan dari staf, serta penerapan aturan asrama yang didukung pembinaan. Strategi-strategi ini terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kedisiplinan, tanggung jawab, dan internalisasi nilai-nilai Kristiani pada siswa. Namun, penelitian juga menemukan beberapa tantangan, seperti minimnya komunikasi antara orang tua dan sekolah, konflik dalam keluarga, akses siswa terhadap konten digital yang tidak sesuai, ketidakharmonisan antar penghuni asrama, serta kesulitan dalam proses adaptasi sosial. ABSTRACT The issue of student character has become a primary concern in the field of education, and boarding schools are regarded as an effective educational model for comprehensively shaping students' character. This study aims to analyze the strategies for Christian character formation among students at SMA Kristen Barana’, Toraja Utara. The research employs a qualitative approach with a field study method. Data was collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, involving informants such as the principal, religious teachers, dormitory heads, and students. The findings identified four main strategies for character formation: habituating religious activities, fostering positive social attitudes, exemplary behavior by staff, and implementing dormitory rules supported by guidance. These strategies have proven effective in enhancing students' discipline, responsibility, and internalization of Christian values. However, the study also revealed several challenges, including limited communication between parents and the school, family conflicts, students’ exposure to inappropriate digital content, disharmony among dormitory residents, and difficulties in social adaptation.
