Abstract
Ritual messalu merupakan warisan tradisi aluk toyolo di Mamasa sebagai sarana pemulihan penyakit fisik dan mental. Korelasi antara messalu dan kesembuhan penyakit fisik dan mental, sering menimbulkan mispersepsi karena sering dikaitkan dengan hal-hal mistis (penyembahan berhala, arwah, dll.). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat intervensi psikologi (psikoterapi Aaron Beck-CBT) dalam ritual messalu, untuk memberi jawab terhadap misteri keterkaitan messalu dan kesembuhan penyakit. Teori Aaron Beck (father of Cognitive Behavioral Teraphy) menekankan terapi kognisi yang berdampak bagi behavior. Jenis data dalam penelitian ini adalah data kualitatif Spradlay (etnografi) dan fenomenologi, yang diperoleh melalui observasi dan wawancara secara in-depth. Analisis terhadap hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat intervensi psikoterapi (CBT) dalam ritual messalu, sehingga messalu dapat diparadigmakan sebagai ritual pemulihan jiwa. Secara teologis, ritual messalu sangat relevan dengan prinsip-prinsip iman Kristen, karena itu gagasan ini dapat menjadi referensi bagi gereja dalam rangka mewujudkan pelayan pastoral kontekstual berbasis budaya secara khusus dalam pelayanan pastoral kontekstual bagi orang sakit Kata Kunci: ritual messalu, psikoterapi, kesembuhan, pastoral kontekstual. The messalu ritual is a legacy of the aluk toyolo tradition in Mamasa as a means of healing physical and mental illnesses. The correlation between messalu and the healing of physical and mental illness, often leads to misperceptions because it is often associated with mystical things (idol worship, spirits, etc.). This study aims to find out whether there is a psychological intervention (Aaron Beck-CBT psychotherapy) in the messalu ritual, to answer the mystery of the relationship between messalu and the healing of diseases. Aaron Beck's theory (father of Cognitive Behavioral Teraphy) emphasizes cognition therapy that impacts behavior. The types of data in this research are Spradlay qualitative data (ethnography) and phenomenology, obtained through observation and in-depth interviews. Analysis of the results of this study shows that there is a psychotherapeutic intervention (CBT) in the messalu ritual, so messalu can be paradigmized as a soul recovery ritual. Theologically, messalu ritual is very relevant to the principles of Christian faith, therefore this idea can be a reference for the church in order to realize culture-based contextual pastoral care specifically in contextual pastoral care for the sick.
