Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini mengkaji ritual Masso'bok (pembukaan pekerjaan sawah) di Gereja Toraja Mamasa Klasis Tamalantik. Tujuannya adalah memahami dampak ritual ini bagi kehidupan beragama jemaat dan mencari cara menggabungkan tradisi lokal dengan ajaran Kristen. Peneliti menggunakan metode kualitatif, terutama wawancara dengan pemimpin gereja setempat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa gereja berhati-hati namun terbuka terhadap tradisi Masso'bok. Gereja berusaha menghubungkan budaya lokal dengan ajaran Kristen. Pendekatan ini mencerminkan pemikiran teologi yang lebih inklusif. Penelitian ini juga mengungkap kerumitan dalam membentuk identitas agama di tengah perubahan sosial. Pemimpin agama lokal berperan penting dalam menafsirkan ajaran agama sesuai konteks setempat. Dengan pendekatan teologis-konstruktif terhadap Masso'bok memungkinkan gereja mengembangkan praktik iman yang sesuai dengan budaya lokal. Hal ini memperkaya kehidupan spiritual jemaat sambil menjaga kearifan lokal. Penelitian ini memberikan wawasan tentang bagaimana lembaga agama dapat menjembatani tradisi dan modernitas dalam masyarakat saat ini. Kata Kunci: Masso'bok, Teologi Konstruktif, Kontekstualisas ABSTRACT This research examines the Masso'bok ritual (opening of rice field work) in the Toraja Mamasa Church, Tamalantik Classis. The aim is to understand the impact of this ritual on the religious life of the congregation and to find ways to integrate local traditions with Christian teachings. The researcher used qualitative methods, primarily interviews with local church leaders. The results show that the church is cautious but open to the Masso'bok tradition. The church strives to connect local culture with Christian teachings. This approach reflects a more inclusive theological thinking. The study also reveals the complexities in shaping religious identity amidst social changes. Local religious leaders play an important role in interpreting religious teachings according to the local context. A constructive-theological approach to Masso'bok allows the church to develop faith practices that align with local culture. This enriches the spiritual life of the congregation while preserving local wisdom. This research provides insights into how religious institutions can bridge tradition and modernity in today's society. Keywords: Masso'bok, Constructive Theology, Contextualization
