Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis reaktualisasi makna Pemali Mentiro Lako Boko' Kesule Makaburu' di Lembang Paku Masanda dalam perspektif sosio-teologis. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan etnografi. Data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Pemali tersebut tidak lagi dipahami hanya sebagai larangan adat yang berkaitan dengan kepercayaan terhadap hukuman supranatural, tetapi telah mengalami reaktualisasi menjadi nilai moral yang menekankan kejujuran, integritas, tanggung jawab, dan penghormatan terhadap leluhur. Dari perspektif sosio-teologis, nilai-nilai tersebut selaras dengan ajaran Kristen sehingga dapat menjadi pedoman dalam kehidupan masyarakat tanpa menghilangkan identitas budaya Toraja. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi dalam pelestarian kearifan lokal serta pengembangan kajian teologi kontekstual. Kata Kunci: Pemali, Reaktualisasi, Sosio-Teologi, Budaya Toraja. ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze the reactualization of the meaning of Pemali Mentiro Lako Boko' Kesule Makaburu' in Lembang Paku Masanda from a socio-theological perspective. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method using an ethnographic approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed descriptively. The findings indicate that this Pemali is no longer understood solely as a traditional taboo associated with beliefs in supernatural punishment. Instead, it has been reactualized as a moral value that emphasizes honesty, integrity, responsibility, and respect for ancestors. From a socio-theological perspective, these values are in harmony with Christian teachings and can serve as ethical guidelines for community life without diminishing Torajan cultural identity. This study is expected to serve as a reference for preserving local wisdom and for the development of contextual theological studies.
