Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji reinterpretasi makna Mentiro Bulan dalam tradisi Ma’pabendan Banua dan implikasinya terhadap iman Kristen di Gereja Toraja Jemaat Leatung. Mentiro Bulan merupakan tradisi dari kepercayaan Aluk Todolo untuk menentukan waktu yang baik sebelum melaksanakan kegiatan penting, khususnya mendirikan rumah. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi, penelitian ini menganakisis data melalui reduksi, penyajian, dan penarikan kesimpulan berbasis teologi kontekstual. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tradisi ini mengandung nilai positif seperti kehati-hatian, perencanaan, kebersamaan, dan penghormatan terhadapleluhur. Tradisi tidak perlu ditolak, melainkan diinterpretasi dalam terang injil dengan mengarahkan kepercayaan kepada Allah sebagai sumber berkat, sehingga budaya dan iman Kristen dapat berjalan harmonis. ABSTRACT This study examines the reinterpretation of the meaning of Mentiro Bulan within the Ma’pabendan Banua tradition and its implications for Christian faith at the Toraja Church, Leatung Congregation. Mentiro Bulan is a tradition rooted in the Aluk Todolo belief system, used to determine an auspicious time for undertaking significant activities, particularly the construction of a house. Employing a qualitative approach involving interviews, observation, and documentation, the study analyzes data through reduction, presentation, and conclusion-drawing based on contextual theology. The findings indicate that this tradition embodies positive values such as prudence, planning, communal solidarity, and respect for ancestors. Rather than being rejected, the tradition should be interpreted in the light of the Gospel by directing faith toward God as the source of blessings, thereby allowing culture and Christian faith to coexist harmoniously.
