Abstract

Praktik pengobatan tradisional masih dilakukan oleh sebagian anggota Gereja Toraja Jemaat Pasang dan menimbulkan berbagai pandangan terkait kesesuaiannya dengan iman Kristen serta implikasinya bagi kedewasaan iman jemaat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji praktik pengobatan tradisional menurut teologi Kristen Stephen B. Bevans dan implikasinya bagi kedewasaan iman jemaat. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori teologi inkulturasi Stephen B. Bevans dengan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengobatan tradisional masih dipahami sebagai warisan budaya dan alternatif pertolongan kesehatan. Praktik tersebut dapat diterima selama tidak bertentangan dengan iman Kristen. Kedewasaan iman jemaat tercermin dalam kemampuan menghargai budaya secara kritis serta tetap mengakui Yesus Kristus sebagai sumber keselamatan dan kesembuhan. ABSTRACT Traditional healing practices are still carried out by some members of Gereja Toraja Jemaat Pasang and raise various perspectives regarding their compatibility with Christian faith and their implications for the spiritual maturity of the congregation. This study aims to examine traditional healing practices according to Stephen B. Bevans' Christian theology and their implications for the spiritual maturity of the congregation. The study employed Stephen B. Bevans' theology of inculturation using a descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that traditional healing is still understood as a cultural heritage and an alternative means of healthcare. These practices may be accepted as long as they do not contradict Christian faith. The congregation's spiritual maturity is reflected in their ability to appreciate culture critically while continuing to acknowledge Jesus Christ as the source of salvation and healing.
