Abstract
Abstract Despite possessing formal legal legitimacy in Indonesia, the United Pentecostal Church in Indonesia (GPSDI) faces dogmatic marginalization in the form of "heresy" labelling by the Trinitarian church majority. This phenomenon creates a "dual legitimacy dilemma" that engenders profound socio-theological discomfort among GPSDI ministers, while previous studies have tended to remain entrenched in one-sided dogmatic polemics. Consequently, this research aims to analyze the historical-theological basis of GPSDI’s Absolute Monotheism as a response to heresy allegations and to identify the strategic and socio-cultural factors supporting its existence. The theoretical framework is constructed by balancing GPSDI’s Absolute Monotheism discourse with ecumenical Trinitarian Monotheism doctrines. Utilizing a qualitative approach with Moustakas’ phenomenological model, this study explores the essence of GPSDI ministers' experiences through phenomenological reduction. The findings indicate that GPSDI employs "Principled Resistance" through militant doctrinal defense as a response to stigmatization. GPSDI's existence is sustained by a Dual Legitimacy Strategy, namely state legal recognition and socio-ecumenical engagement, which serves as a functional shield against theological exclusion. As a novelty, this research formulates the Absolute Monotheism Harmony Model, which synchronizes GPSDI’s theological position through ethical dialogue and tangible social contributions. This model is offered as a theoretical-practical solution to deconstruct heresy labelling and to position Absolute Monotheism as a theological foundation aligned with the context of harmony and national values in Indonesia. Keywords: GPSDI, Absolute Monotheism, Heresy Stigma, Moustakas' Phenomenology, Absolute Monotheism Harmony Model.
