Abstract

ABSTRACT The thesis titled "A Study of Human Relations with One Another Based on the Imago Dei of Anthony Andrew Hoekema Genesis 1:26-27 in the Toraja Mamasa Church, Tamatiku Congregation" analyzes the relationships among congregants using a qualitative approach through literature study, observation, and interviews with the Pastor, Church Council, and Congregation Members. Anthony Andrew Hoekema explains that humans as the image of God (Gen. 1:26-27) have two dimensions, namely structural (reason, morality, creativity, relational ability) and functional (obedience to God, love for others, cultural mandate). Hoekema affirms relationship as the essence of the Imago Dei in humans. The research results show that the relationships among congregants in the Tamatiku Congregation do not fully reflect the concept of Imago Dei according to Hoekema. The preservation of nature (cultural mandate) has been successfully implemented, but interpersonal relationships are disrupted due to sin, which damages but does not eliminate the image of God. Christ as the perfect Imago Dei (Col. 1:15) becomes the basis for restoration. Congregants who understand the Imago Dei as a reflection of God's love tend to have better relationships. Therefore, directed efforts are needed to improve the understanding of the Imago Dei and overcome relational challenges, thereby creating transformative relationships that reflect the love of Christ. Keywords: Imago Dei, Relationship, Human, Fellow, Congregation.
