Abstract

Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah kenyataan bahwa masih ada warga gereja yang belum bisa membaca, sehingga mengalami kesulitan dalam mengakses dan memahami isi firman Tuhan secara mandiri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran strategi misi pelayanan dalam mendukung literasi Alkitab bagi warga Gereja Toraja Mamasa Jemaat Orong yang mengalami buta huruf. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi misi yang tepat sangat diperlukan dalam menjawab kebutuhan jemaat yang mengalami keterbatasan literasi. Strategi yang dinilai efektif adalah strategi yang berlandaskan pada kerygma, yaitu pemberitaan Injil yang berpusat pada Kristus. Strategi ini diterapkan melalui metode Alkitab interaktif, media audio-visual, dan pendekatan individu. Melalui strategi ini, jemaat yang buta huruf tetap dapat dibina secara rohani dan mengalami pertumbuhan iman. Oleh karena itu, gereja perlu lebih aktif dan kontekstual dalam melayani jemaat secara menyeluruh, tanpa mengabaikan mereka yang memiliki keterbatasan membaca. ABSTRACT The background of this study is the reality that there are still church members who are illiterate, making it difficult for them to access and understand the Word of God independently. This research aims to explore the role of mission strategies in supporting biblical literacy for illiterate members of the Toraja Mamasa Church, Orong Congregation. The study employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings reveal that an appropriate mission strategy is essential to address the needs of members with limited literacy. An effective strategy is one that is based on kerygma, the proclamation of the Gospel centered on Christ. This strategy is implemented through interactive Bible methods, audio-visual media, and personalized approaches. Through these means, illiterate church members can still receive spiritual guidance and experience growth in faith. Therefore, the church is encouraged to be more active and contextual in its ministry, ensuring inclusive care that does not overlook those with reading limitations.
